What is a Governing Body?

  • Every maintained school has a Governing Body which makes decisions about how the school is run and makes plans for it to develop in the future.
  • Each Governing Body is made up of parents, staff, people appointed by the Local Authority and residents from the local community.  In this way all interested groups can give their views of how the school works.
  • The Governing Body looks after the upkeep of the school buildings both inside and out, how the school money is spent, how many staff there are and what they do, the safety of the children and staff and and much more…!

When does the Governing Body meet?

Our Governing Body meets each term for a main meeting with all governors present. We also meet termly for the Property, Health and Safety Committee; Curriculum and Special Needs Committee; and the Personnel and Finance Committees.
