Pastures Way Nursery School has been awarded:
- Family Food First Accreditation
- 5 stars for Kitchen Hygiene – by Luton Borough Council
Julie, our kitchen manager, ensures we maintain our high standards in order to be re-awarded each year. The Healthy Under-5s guidelines help us to ensure we provide a variety of nutritious, low-sugar, healthy snacks and meals for the children. Most of our meals are home-cooked and made from scratch. The meat used is 100% British and traceable, from a family butcher based in Luton.
As well as providing favourite foods, we provide opportunities for children to taste new and different foods on a regular basis. Children also have a chance to taste the traditional foods eaten on a variety of special cultural celebrations. We cater for dietary requirements and allergies – please see your child’s keyworker for more information.
All children are provided with a range of mid- morning and mid- afternoon snacks and a choice of milk or water to drink. The over 3s are able to access these self-service style whenever they feel hungry and thirsty.
Children staying for paid mealtime slots:
Breakfast is self-service style and children may choose what they would like to eat from a range of cereals, breads &spreads, yoghurts and fruit.
Lunch and tea menus are designed by Julie, our kitchen manager and their nutritional content is checked by our community dieticians.
